Created vs Resolved vs Any Date Field Report

Created vs Resolved report is one of the most used in Jira. In addition to the built-in gadget Created vs Resolved Chart by Atlassian, many apps also offer custom issue analysis reports to show comparison between created and resolved issues within a certain period. 

What distinguishes Performance Objectives app are the numerous customization options and the ability to add more date fields in the comparison. 

Use the Performance Trend gadget to explore trends correlations between any date events that are stored as fields in your Jira issues. Build Created vs Resolved issues analysis report and expand it with any other date events that may be of interest to compare. Choose between line and area chart for your data visualization.

Step 1: Add Data Source with date range based on ‘Created’ date field.

Step 2: Add Data Source with date range based on ‘Resolved’ date field for the same period. Repeat the same action with other date fields, e.g., ‘Progress Started’, ‘Status Category Change’, etc., as given in the sample config.

Step 3: Select ‘Range Date’ field for ‘Display by’. It is a special field that syncs on the same x-axis timeline all values from the date fields defined into the data sources. In the sample case we use the Jira issue date fields: ‘Created’, ‘Resolved’, ‘Progress Started’, ‘Status Category Change’.

Step 4: Set Group by ‘Data Source’ to display distinctive trend for each data source, based on its respective date field used for Date Range.

Step 5: Select Cumulative mode that will show the accumulated data with each x-axis item. In the sample case that data will be aggregated by week.
